travel south america peru lima pueblo libre district museo larco

Museo Larco, or Rafael Larco Herrera Archaeological Museum, was founded in 1926 and is a beautiful privately owned museum of pre-Columbian art.
It is located in the Pueblo Libre District of Lima in an 18th-century vice-royal building of white plaster accented with dark wrought iron grills.
It features chronological galleries of 5,000 years of Peruvian pre-Columbian history and is know for its gallery of erotic pottery.

I was only able to spend a couple hours here furiously taking photos in hopes of taking time to study the displays in more detail later.
Unfortunately, the nicely displayed artifacts were mostly in glass cases that diffused photo images and reflected all sorts of unwanted light making good photography almost impossible.

All in all, one of the most interesting museums I have visited... and I highly recommend it.
