travel europe croatia dubrovnik

Dubrovnik (Ragusa), a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of those places that has been high on my bucket list for many years.
As an architect, I have always been fascinated by photos of the old walled city and its small harbor.
I love the three-dimensional unity of a small walled city which, to me, is a beautiful rough piece of sculpture.
When a good deal of the city was bombed during their civil war in 1991, I thought my chances were gone.
Today, in 2013, the city of Dubrovnik is mostly rebuilt and thriving from the tourist industry.
