We sailed into Kailua-Kona on the west side of the island of Hawaii traveling on the Royal Princess in 2023.
Town has a pedestrian friendly main street, Ali'i Drive, which runs along the shores of Kailua Bay and features a nice selection of shops and restaurants catering to tourists.
The cruise ship tendering pier is right down town and has nice small public beaches on each side of it.
Most of the town is easily accessed by walking.
I walked around town to see some of the sights and take photos while Lynn rested on the patio of Kailua Cuisine with an unobstructed view of Kailua Bay and the main street, Ali'i Drive.
