travel south pacific french polynesia huahine fare
On a tip from one of the guides on our morning snorkel trip, we caught the local bus and traveled up over the hill to the town of Fare.
Fare, on the west coast of Huahine, was very hot and almost uncomfortable, but the town and the Hawaiki Nui Va'a celebration made it all worth while.
This was the one time during our whole visit to the islands that I felt we really got to see the real culture and people of French Polynesia...
not just a "Disneyesque" business presentation of someone's vision of a Polynesian island.
