travel north america united states oregon cape perpetua the overlook

The Cape Perpetua overlook is reached from a paved winding road next to the campground between Devil's Churn and the Visitor's Center.
Here are trails and several lookout points with fantastic views of miles of the Oregon coastline.
Whales can often be spotted in spring and fall from the stone shelter on the point.

In 1987, film crews used a site on top of Perpetua for part of the filming of Disney's "Benji the Hunted."
We visited the site several times during the filming where a small log "cabin" was built for the hunter's camp.
All traces of the staging were required to be removed after filming and no traces remain today.
For a while, Benji and his trainer, Frank Inn, were "celebrities" in the Yachats area.
