Stone Island Beach is on Stone Island just across the harbor to the south of Mazatlan's city center.
We visited it on a warm, but overcast, day which, for us, made it very pleasant because it wasn't too hot.
This long sandy beach is several miles long with clean open almost empty expanses on the south and busy, touristy, areas at the north end nearer Mazatlan.
The many restaurants and tourist facilities are well set back from the water leaving a nice wide sandy beach for sun bathing, swimming, or water sports.
Various water craft and horses can be rented from several vendors along the beach.
Although we reached Stone Island Beach in a round about way through the mangrove swamps several miles up the beach, but it can also be reached by ferry from Mazatlan.
Our kids took the ferry and we met them on the beach in the middle of our excursion.
