travel europe italy campania pompeii the forum

The Pompeii Forum was an urban center, a main square of the city, home to the town's main civic, commercial and religious structures.
As the center of life for its citizens, large crowds would come here every day to meet, gossip, run business and worship.
The main square is loosly defined by restored sections of the colonnade which surrounded it.
