Marksburg Castle lies above the town of Braubach in the state of Rhineland-Palaatinate and is a major site of the Rhine Gorge UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It is said to be the only castle between Bingen am Rhein and Koblenz that was never destroyed.
We visited Marksburg Castle with my grandson, Alex, and his family.
Each of our two grandchildren had been given the assignment of planning one day of our month long trip.
Alex's tour consisted of Marksburg Castle and Burg Eltz
Burg Eltz is my favorite... Marksburg, although it had a couple good exhibits, had none of the ambience of Burg Eltz.
It is not one I would choose to visit again.
