travel europe croatia dubrovnik around the city

The old walled park of Dubrovnik juts out on a peninsula between two harbors.
The beautiful stonework and tile roofs add to the charm of this area.
Newer homes line the hillside behind the old city. It is from these hill tops the old city was bombarded in 1991.
The new brighter red roof tiles mark the roofs that have been replaced after the bombing.
The Tower of Rellotge, bell tower, marks the skyline just inside the harbor gates on the south.

This friendly Croatian woman waved to me from her window overlooking the west wall, Dubrovnik, Croatia, 2013.
After seeing many clothes lines, it made me wonder if there was a city ordinance requiring colorful clothespins.

This photo, taken just off a busy pedestrian street, accurately represents Dubrovnik...
a beautiful old city that calmly continues to endure
despite invasions from both vengeful armies and frenetic tourists.
