travel japan kyoto miho museum
ARCHITECT: I. M. PEI (1997)
The Miho Museum is southeast of Kyoto near the town of Shigaraki.
When you visit this museum, you arrive at a car/bus plaza on the opposite site of a hill from the museum.
The museum is approached through a tunnel in the hill and then over a dramatic suspension bridge.
The museum itself is built mostly underground so as not to disturb its surroundings.
Pei's engineering details are beautiful.
