travel north america united states hawaii island of oahu hanauma bay
Hanauma Bay was my first experience snorkeling in a true tropical local.
As a result of not believing the local's warnings, I didn't wear a t-shirt while I snorkeled along the surface.
After all, I grew up spending a lot of time on the beaches of southern California and never needed one.
I ended up with a pretty good sunburn on my back.
It was not til much later in my life, after snorkeling in the Caribbean and South Pacific that I really came to appreciate Hanauma Bay.
Nowhere else in the world that I have snorkeled have I seen as many fish as I did here.
