For the most part, Helmsdale seemed like many of the towns we saw in this region... there was very little sign of life.
There were no mothers walking children, no businessmen talking in the streets, only one fisherman in the harbor.
The streets were empty and most of the shops were closed.
Like much of our time in northern Scotland the weather was mild but rainy and overcast.
