I first visited Lucerne in 1978 on our first trip to Europe... with a tour group.
In 1991, the family traveled from Italy where we put our rental car on the train to ride over the alps.
I visited Lucerne again in 1984 on a trip with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law and got another perspective.
The family again visited Lucerne in 1994 on an auto trip around Europe with friends, the Rahn family.
Finally, I visited Lucerne again in 1999 when my son and I took our friend Larry, with terminal cancer, around Europe.
Strangely, I have found this city to be interesting and enjoyable... but not particularly loveable.
