travel netherlands amsterdam

I found Amsterdam to be a busy and often loud city seemingly filled with youthful travelers and locals
desperately seeking to find meaning to their lives in what they see as an "open" society.
We found interresting and beautiful areas of historic architecture along streets often sprinkled liberally with trash and dog feces.
I'm sure this is not a true and accurate representation of Amsterdam as a whole, but it certrainly was a first impression.
I found it fascinating to watch the thousands of bicycles weave their way through the heavy downtown traffic.
It was also interesting to see the canal boats that serve as homes to a number of the population.
All in all, a city worth at least visiting once... period.
