travel europe italy tuscany montepulciano around

With a hill town location high on a ridge in the Tuscany region of Italy, Montepulciano's main street runs steeply uphill from one end to the other.
We parked on the southwest "backside" of the hill and came up a fairly steep roadway and through a gateway on the Via del Paolino.
Most of the activity seemed to be going on up the hill from our approach so we gravitated that way.
We came across the large Palazzo Comunale, Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta, the restaurant where we had lunch, and the "castle" at the top of the hill.
While it wasn't one of the most memorable hill towns I've seen, it still had it's charm and I'm glad I got a chance to see it.
