travel europe greece corfu
The island of Corfu is one of the most popular beach vacation islands for Europeans.
When we visited, it was near 100 degrees (F) and doing anything but swimming or sitting in the shade was very uncomfortable.
We rented a car at the port and drove over much of the central/south portions of the island on narrow rutted roads.
We visited the Achilleion Palace south of Corfu Town, then drove north along the western coast to the popular beach town of Paleokastritsa.
After a swim, a hot short stay on the beach, and a walk along the waterfront, we drove on back across the island and north along the east coast to the beach town of Dassia.
We finished our journey with a drive back to Corfu Town for a hot foot tour of the old town.
