ARCHITECTS: J. B. AND DOMINIKUS ZIMMERMANN (1740s)

In the beautiful countryside near the foot of the Alps in a area known as Steingaden, is this small country church known as "The Pilgrimage Church of the 'Scourged Savior'.
It was designed by one of the famous Zimmermann brothers, Dominikus Zimmermann, and is a real gem.
I usually don't care for elaborate decoration... this rococo church is an outstandaing exception.
Zimmerman, himself, is said to have loved this church so much he bought a home nearby so he could live out his life within sight of it.
