Macao, also spelled Macau, is officially the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China lies on the west of the Pearl River estuary.
A former colony of the Portuguese Empire, Macau is a mixture of old and new, temples and casinos, all looking for an identity.
In recent years, I have seen photos of Macao that indicate that it has changed radically with an infusion of foreign investment.
